Print Name: Sea Cave at Bottle Cove
Captured: July 2024 | Location: Bottle Cove, Lark Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada
The Story: A powerful scene capturing the spectacular sea cave views at Bottle Cove, a hidden gem nestled below the Blow-Me-Down mountains on Newfoundland's west coast. The sea has carved curious and intriguing shapes into the sedimentary, mélange, and lava rocks of the area, which are part of the rare ophiolite sequence where the ocean floor is exposed. The cove and nearby trails offer majestic scenery, spectacular sunsets, and views overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The cave itself is typically only accessible at low tide by jumping large rocks or wading in the ocean. This image freezes a breathtaking second of raw, untamed Canadian nature on the rugged Atlantic coastline.
