Print Name: Pisew Falls
Captured: September 2009 | Location: Pisew Falls Provincial Park, Manitoba, Canada
The Story: A powerful scene capturing Manitoba's second-highest waterfall, where the Grass River drops 13 metres (42.7 feet) and changes direction to jet down a scenic gorge. The name *Pisew* translates from the local Cree language for "lynx". The image, captured in September 2009, perfectly balances the powerful, cascading water with the rugged, granite rock and the lush, green boreal forest of the Canadian Shield typical of Northern Manitoba. A short boardwalk leads to observation platforms, and a nearby bridge provides access to trails to the top of the falls and the longer hike to Kwasitchewan Falls. This photo freezes a breathtaking second of raw, untamed Canadian nature in the North.
