Seal

- Description
Print Name: Seal
Captured: April 2017 | Location: **Assiniboine Park Zoo**, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
The Story: A powerful scene capturing a **Harbour Seal** (*Phoca vitulina*) swimming in the underwater viewing area of the **Journey to Churchill** exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Many of the seals in this award-winning exhibit are rescued animals that were deemed non-releasable due to health issues, preventing their survival in the wild. They serve to help tell the important story of climate change and the connection between the northern land, wildlife, and people. Harbour seals are typically curious but cautious animals and use a thick layer of blubber to keep them warm in cold water. This image freezes a breathtaking second of this magnificent Canadian creature as it glides effortlessly through the water.
Every print is personally inspected, and hand-signed by Métis artist Jason Lee.
