Print Name: Pinawa Dam
Captured: September 2009 | Location: 50.2141, -95.9266 **Pinawa Dam Provincial Heritage Park**, Manitoba, Canada
The Story: A powerful scene capturing the **majestic concrete ruins** of the Pinawa Generating Station, Manitoba's first year-round hydroelectric plant, which began operating in 1906 and was crucial to the early growth of Winnipeg. Closed in 1951 to support the more efficient Seven Sisters station downstream, the site was later used by the Canadian military for demolition practice, which shaped some of the rugged, "Roman Coliseum"-like appearance of the ruins today. The image perfectly balances the sturdy, historical concrete structure with the lush, green natural landscape of the Canadian Shield as nature slowly reclaims the site, with water from the Winnipeg River still flowing through the ruins as rapids and cascades. Captured in September 2009, the photo freezes a breathtaking second of raw, untamed Canadian nature amidst a rich historical backdrop.

Every print is personally inspected, and hand-signed by Métis artist Jason Lee.
