Print Name: Paint Lake
Captured: September 2009 | Location: Paint Lake, Manitoba, Canada
The Story: A powerful scene from Paint Lake Provincial Park, considered the centrepiece of the park and part of the Grass River system that has been used for centuries by Indigenous people and fur traders. Early Indigenous people called it *Manuminan Sakahigan* (“Red Paint Lake”), a name derived from the reddish rock and iron-stained deposits in the bedrock, which gives the water its unique hue. The lake is known for its numerous islands, hidden coves, and peaceful bays, all set within 56,000 acres of rugged **Precambrian Boreal Forest**. Captured in September 2009, this image perfectly balances the rocky shoreline and reflective water with the dramatic, cloudy sky, freezing a breathtaking second of raw, untamed Canadian wilderness.

Every print is personally inspected, and hand-signed by Métis artist Jason Lee.
