The Story: A cool fall morning in September 2023, the sun had just risen, chasing away the last of the fog at the **Alf Hole Goose Sanctuary**. I was sitting patiently, focused on capturing the resident **Canada geese** and other waterfowl when the quiet was broken by the sound of wings beating the water. This powerful image freezes a breathtaking second where two geese take flight in a spray of water, their silhouettes perfectly framed by the mist and the dense Boreal forest that characterizes the Whiteshell landscape. It's a reminder of the raw, untamed magic that happens every day in our provincial parks, bringing a sense of serenity and movement into any home. The sanctuary itself has a rich history, started in 1939 by a local rancher and now managed by the province, protecting nesting geese and offering up-close viewing opportunities.
