The Story: A powerful scene from southern Alberta, where the Crowsnest River plunges 12 meters (39 ft) over an ancient limestone cliff in Southern Alberta. The waterfall's flow is split by a small island near the crest, creating the picturesque twin cascades seen here. Below the falls is a stunning canyon and deep plunge pool, a geologically significant area with visible ripple marks and worm burrow traces that indicate a shallow shoreline environment from 75 million years ago. Captured in September 2019, the image perfectly balances the rushing, powerful water with the rugged rock formations, offering a spectacular glimpse of raw, untamed Canadian wilderness.
