The Story: A rare, intimate portrait of a pair of Atlantic Puffins sharing a tender moment at the edge of the continent in Elliston, Newfoundland. The town is known as the root cellar capital of the world, but it also hosts one of the easiest-to-access puffin colonies, where thousands of these charismatic "sea parrots" return each year to nest on the cliff edges. This image captures the unique "billing" behavior—where pairs touch beaks—which helps reinforce their monogamous pair bond during the breeding season. The vibrant orange and yellow of their beaks contrast beautifully with the lush green and white of the sea thrift and coastal grasses, a breathtaking second of raw, untamed nature frozen in time.
